SL and Toyota Material Handling continue to focus on innovation and new energy solutions through the expansion of the fleet of forklifts with Lithium-ion batteries. This expansion includes 48-volt reach trucks as well as rack trucks. Toyota Material Handling now offers the largest range of Lithium-ion battery powered forklifts on the market and can therefore offer reliable solutions for a wide range of different manufacturing and logistics industries.
The first series of forklifts with lithium-ion batteries, developed by Toyota Material Handling in 2013, consisted of three warehouse forklifts: BT Levio LWE and LPE pallet trucks and BT Optio OSE models. Now 5 more forklift models have joined that group: high-rise (BT Staxio SPE and SWE), rack (BT Reflex RRE), tractor >vehicles (BT Movit TSE) and Traigo 48, the first lithium-ion forklift in the world.
Lithium-Ion batteries are proven to be 30% more energy efficient than standard batteries, and at the same time have significantly lower CO2 emissions. While standard batteries have a lifespan of 1500 charge cycles, the lifespan of Lithium-Ion batteries is 4 times longer, making it a great investment. Charging of Li-Ion batteries is possible at any place and at any time. It takes very little time and the batteries can be recharged during lunch breaks and continue working at 100% capacity. It is this characteristic that makes them ideal for working in multiple shifts because there is no longer a need to replace the batteries. All this, ultimately, leads to minimizing machine downtime – which means maximum productivity and your work at an even higher level.
